Range/Habitat: Only in the northwest tip of Bali (Indonesia) in open woodland, savannas and forested valleys.

The Bali Mynah, or Bali Starling has a very limited range. It lives in holes in trees that it lines with leaves, stems of dried plants, and feathers. The entire population of Bali Mynahs gather to breed in one 740 acre national park between November and April, which is the Bali rainy season. Each pair will produce two to three clutches of two to three eggs each during this time. Both parents take part in incubating the eggs and raise the young together on insects and fruit.

Conservation Concerns:

The Bali Mynah is threatened by both habitat loss and trapping for the illegal pet trade. There is currently a species survival plan in place for the species to protect genetic variation in the population while the public is educated on the need to stop buying these birds as pets
